Hair Care Routine

Hey Guys,

I’ve promised you to share with you my hair care routine…long overdue, but here it is.

First off; What is my hair type?

Take into consideration that I have a “normal-hair” type, it’s not too greasy and not too dry, and my natural hair is black in color and curly. No matter what hair type you have, if you do take good care of it and stick to a routine, you will see a great change.

Secondly; Onto the actual hair care.

  1. Washing my hair
I wash my hair 2-3 times a week maximum. Earlier, I was using the Matrix Biolage Smooth Proof Smoothing Shampoo and conditioner but since the last two months for my shampoo I’ve been using the L’Oreal Paris 6 Oil Nourish Shampoo and for conditioner I use the L’Oreal Paris Total Repair 5 Conditioner. Unless you have very greasy hair, excessive or daily hair showers are not recommended. In case, you have greasy hair and you want to wash your hair daily then use a mild shampoo and conditioner.Hair Care Routine
  2. Post hair wash
Unless I have an event and HAVE to blow dry my hair, I usually let it air dry, it is the best way to avoid split ends. Also, don’t brush your hair when it’s wet, unless you have super curly hair and don’t wanna look like a poodle. For that, you can use a wide tooth comb to brush your hair gently when your hair is wet. Prefer not brushing your hair when it’s wet because wet hair is more likely to break and that way you could damage your hair even more.
  3. Styling your hair for an event
Whenever you use heating hair appliances, make sure that you use a heat protector for your hair. I personally use the BBlunt High Definition Curl: Curl Defining leave in cream. This cream helps to enhance my hair and make it frizz free changing the look of my hair altogether.
  4. Night Care
For intense nourishment of my hair I use the L’Oreal Paris Hair Expertise Oil Replacement Cream twice a week overnight. It makes my hair very soft and non-frizzy. You guys should definitely give it a try.Hair Care Routine

Apart from this, there are a few other tips that might help you guys.

  1. Health on the inside reflects your hair too. The healthier you are, the better your hair looks. If you want to have really good and healthy hair, eating right is a must.
  2. Use cold water to wash your hair. Hot water affects hair the same way as heat styling methods do. Cold doesn’t exactly mean freezing cold, but you can use water at room temperature instead.
  3. Deal carefully with wet hair since wet hair is very fragile and breaks easily. Don’t be too harsh when shampooing. Breakage begins there.
  4. When you go to bed at night, loosely braid your hair to avoid a frizzy mess, a side braid is a better option. Leaving your hair open tends to create knots.
  5. A T-shirt is lightweight enough to soak up some of the moisture and it won’t lead to the frizz that a terrycloth towel can cause. You should also make sure to squeeze excess water out of your hair-not rub it dry-because that causes frizz and breakage.
  6. Avoid teasing your hair. Even if it creates a lot of volume, it ruins the hair texture.
  7. As soon as your ends begin to split, go to the salon and get a trim. Keeping your hair trimmed will make sure the ends don’t split very far up the shaft. Your hair will be less likely to break, and it will look healthy and full of life.
  8. Oil your hair at least once a week. If your hair is extremely dry, you can just apply oil to your hair and then soak a towel in hot water and wrap it around your head. This would make sure that oil penetrates well into the scalp. It will keep your hair nourished for longer.
  9. Believe it or not, stress can show on your hair, leading to slow hair growth and even hair loss. Yoga and meditation will reflect positively on the hair growth cycle and maximize hair health in general.
  10. Treat your hair once in a while by giving it a nourishing spa.
As it is rightly said that hair is a women’s crowning glory, so no matter what hair type you have just love your hair and take utmost good care of it.

    Love,
    Pooja
