Persist

It’s true what they say, “Dreams do come true”. At the age of 17, this little girl, unaware of the real world, wanted to see all of it. After I completed my HSC I wanted to get out of the city chaos. Family not being much into traveling, I decided to go solo. I finally went to Bhutan with a tour guide and 19 complete strangers, well, not anymore. This one trip to Bhutan and suddenly nothing has been more important than traveling or saving up for the next. It was the time that I realized how much I love this. How much I love listening to stories of complete strangers, telling them mine. Learning about their culture, and so much more. I went to Bhutan with people much elder than me, it was indeed an amazing feeling to be with people much elder than me from whom I learned so many different things. I wanted to tell people about my trip, of every single night, how conversations besides the bonfire over a cup of coffee were perfection, from being strangers to each other we became family in two days, how meeting crazy new people everyday became the new routine. Blogging was not all the craze that it is right now and it’s true that I did not have the courage to start one.

Next year, at the age of 18, I went to Ladakh. The tour guide was the same but there were 20 new faces this time. Ladakh’s beauty cannot be justified with words. Everything that you see in Ladakh is what wallpapers are made of. From road tripping via Sonmarg, Drass, Kargil to taking a dip in the freezing water of the mighty Pangong Lake, to Momos and Maggi being our food for survival, to Ladakhi people going out of their way to help us, to being left in awe watching a million stars in the sky at the same time. I still get goosebumps just by thinking about those 9 days. It was after my Ladakh trip that I realized I wanted to start my own blog to share with people, the love that exists all around the world. Fashion has always been close to my heart, but I never knew I will have a platform to showcase my fashion sense as well as experiment with it.

After a lot of thought, I decided to start a Fashion and Travel Blog, “One Girl, One Journey”. Journey, not specifying a particular journey. But this “Girl’s” journey of life, of experimenting, meeting beautiful people, not beautiful by their looks, but at heart, learning different cultures and growing. Every Single Day.

At the age of 19, I went to Meghalaya. It’s beauty and it’s green left me mesmerised. It was also the time that I completed a year of blogging, It was a beautiful year, full of opportunities of meeting many like minded people, experimenting so much with fashion, writing my heart out about fashion and traveling on my blog.

Today, I am 20 years old, it’s been a year and a half since I started my blog and I can say with utmost certainty that it has completely changed my life, in a beautiful way. It’s ironic; this life, last year, in my 2nd year, being HOD for one of the events I had to get the chief guest myself. A week back, I was called at Somaiya College as a chief guest. I cannot begin to put in words for how overwhelmed I was with all the love, respect and warmth I received from everybody.

It’s very small, this life and the trouble is that we think we have time. Find out what you love and go for it, against all the odds. Just go for it. I know it’s easier said than done. But trust me, if doing something makes you happy, which is not in one of the boxes that the society has made for us, why not go for it? If you have a dream go at it full speed. As they say, “Lukewarm is no good”.

Until Next Time

Love.
